Cyber-Seniors is a character-driven documentary that explores the extraordinary journey of several elderly senior citizens as they discover the “magic” of the world-wide-web through the guidance of teenaged mentors. Their exhilarating exploration of cyber-space is catapulted to a whole new level when 89 year old Shura decides to create a Youtube tutorial. This sets the ball in motion for a spirited Youtube competition where hidden talents and competitive spirits are revealed. The movie culminates with an awards ceremony where we crown the winner of the Cyber-Seniors competition and all of the seniors meet in person for the first time after viewing one another’s videos online.

A secondary storyline focuses on the two teenage sisters who started the Cyber-Seniors program. They were inspired by their relationship with their own grandparents, and how it was transformed once they learned to use the internet. When one of the sisters is diagnosed with cancer at the same time as her grandfather, we witness how the internet can act as a crucial way for a family to stay connected and show support for one another.
New friendships develop, lives are transformed and surprises ensue. For all, the journey is life changing.
